Hen Colman's drawings often depict an altered territory or landscape in which the protagonist's role is carried by recurring motifs of water, vessels, containers and natural forms in layered, transformed states.

Her work explores the dialectic between the 'chaotic abundant' and 'measured' environments.

This third territory - not necessarily geographical nor historical - provides a rich seam as an unfolding space or stage for playing out memories, responses and reactions.

She is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and a tutor at The Royal Academy Schools.

Her work has been shown in various London galleries and is included in private and public collections in the UK and the USA. Born in Venezuela, Hen is based in London and Oxfordshire.
